Everyone should aim to reach the best versions of themselves! In the garden city of Singapore, hiking can be a way for you to achieve wellness. 


Tips for hiking

Hiking is an engaging form of exercise that keeps your cardiovascular health in check. Basking in greenery can reduce stress and improve your mood. Preparing before going on your hike is important to reap these benefits.


  1. Check the weather forecast. This helps to prevent any accidents in the case of bad weather.

  2. Bring essentials. Water and sunscreen help to keep you protected from the hot climate in Singapore. 

  3. Go with a friend. If you are new to hiking or going onto trails off the beaten path, it is safer to hike with a friend. It also never hurts to have a friend to brighten up the mood!


Where to hike 

  1. For the scenic route: Southern Ridges 

Starting from the peak of Mount Faber and ending amongst the lofty mangroves in Labrador Nature Reserve, the Southern Ridges spans 10km across the Southwest of Singapore. The trail brings you past panoramic views, such as the architectural beauty of the Henderson Waves and the canopy walk at Telok Blangah Hill Park. You can even get a camera to capture the cityscape blended with nature! 


  1. For the adventurous: Bukit Timah Nature Reserve 

This ASEAN heritage park is packed with dense vegetation and rare wildlife, offering challenging terrains for the more experienced hikers. You can even hike to Singapore’s highest natural peak. To make the hike more fun, why not play a scavenger hunt game and try to spot different flora and fauna?


  1. For those looking for a getaway: Coney Island

Tucked away in the northeastern corner of Singapore, this quiet but tranquil park offers a respite from the bustling hums of the city. The towering woodlands make you feel like you have been transported out of the country and into something reminiscent of Taylor Swift’s ‘Folklore’ album cover. You can even have a mini picnic while chilling on the boardwalk overlooking the sea!
