REST for WEllness
In partnership with the Institute of Mental Health (IMH) and REACH, TWIS presents to you REST for Wellness!
Since 2022, TWIS has worked closely with the Institute of Mental Health (IMH) and REACH to develop and deliver the REST (Resilience, Empathy, and Support Training) for Wellness Programme. This programme is an introduction to mental health literacy, with its content and delivery style leveraging our experiences in engaging with people with mental health conditions, working with a wide variety of student and youth volunteers, and utilising upstream principles.
Rest for WEllness is a programme that was co-designed with the Institute of Mental Health (IMH). This programme is catered to youths aged 13-23. With the rising number of people facing mental health conditions in Singapore, there is a need for youths to better understand the importance of mental health & how they can support themselves and others.

The programme covers extensively researched modules that give a holistic perspective of wellness and wellbeing. After the program, youths will be able to seek help in an appropriate timely manner whilst also understanding methods for coping with stress and skills to support peers alike.

The programme also aims to build a self-sustaining system within the schools through a community building approach where each batch of students are able to participate in future REST for WEllness cohorts as facilitators or helpers.

To demonstrate their learning, youths will present their findings in digital designs and art pieces that will be made into decals and displayed throughout the school to raise greater awareness of such issues.
The programme covers:
-
Introduction to the Total Wellness Framework
-
The Stigma of Mental Illness
-
Understanding Mental Health and Mental Illness
-
Specific Mental Illnesses
-
Experiences of Mental Illness and the importance of Family Communication
-
Seeking Help and Finding Support
-
The Importance of Positive Mental Health
Rest for WEllness has reached over 1180 students since February 2023, with positive feedback received & continued interest during and after the workshop sessions. Since the start of this programme, we have and will be partnering with various institutions throughout Singapore, including Hwa Chong Institution (HCI), Queensway Secondary School, Anglo-Chinese Junior College (ACJC), Ngee Ann Polytechnic (NP), Anderson Serangoon Junior College (ASRJC), Manjusri Secondary, CHIJ Katong Convent and others.
