Special education helps children with disabilities learn through novel teaching methods, modified environment, and specially catered curricula support their needs.
Importance of Special Education
Students with special needs face challenges that can interfere with their learning. As these students have different sets of needs and challenges, tailored programmes are required to match their unique educational demands to allow them access to education.
Common Forms of Special Education
Working on schoolwork
Learning how to read, write, work with numbers
Learning self-expression and how to understand others
Picking up social skills through interacting with friends and teachers
Cultivating proper behaviours in school
Organising themselves
Differences Between Special Education and General Education
Special Needs Student:

Spend time in both general education classroom and partly in special needs class.
Need intensive support to manage their behaviour and/or attention.
Are in classroom sizes ranging from one-on-one to small groups for individualised attention.
Special Education Teachers:
Share many of the same duties as general education teachers. However, at the elementary level, special needs teachers generally emphasise on reading, writing, mathematics, teaching mobility, and communication.
Work closely with allied health professionals such as speech therapists, occupational therapists, physical therapists, therapy aides, social workers and others in special needs classes.
Common Special Needs:

Autism spectrum disorder
Deaf-blindness
Deafness
Developmental delay
Emotional disturbance
Hearing impairment
Intellectual disability
Multiple disabilities
Orthopedic impairment
Other health impairment
Specific learning disability
Speech and language impairment
Traumatic brain injury
Visual impairment (incld. blindness)
It is not easy for children with any kind of disability to keep pace with others. Designing a structure of education that overpowers their disadvantages related to these disabilities, is a necessity for their growth and development.
